Gift Certificates and Free Shipping

Well I started to think about what I can add to my store to make it more worthwhile. Well I have lots of fabrics but they are more individual yards than bundles. So I started to think about why not create Jelly Rolls that would help to inspire people to create. Especially with the Holidays not far off in the future.

Well to help get the creative juices flowing. I am offering any of my readers that can comment with a good project idea a $5 gift certificate to Kris Kreations NH store on etsy.com

Come follow me on Twitter and I will give the first 50 followers free shipping off any one order at kriskreationsNH.etsy.com

Fall Events and Thoughts

Well as the leaves are changing all around my house and it is getting chilly I start thinking about winter and all my projects.

I am thinking about all the things that haven't worked as well as I would have liked them to as far as making the store more of a success than it has been and I am trying to improve upon it. To this point I have been supplying mostly fabrics to others and now I am thinking that I need to start creating items. Perhaps Quilts or changing pads. But then I start to think everyone is always doing baby things.

So I am looking all over the Internet for some fun ideas to make fall a great stepping stone to a larger business.

Magnaplay

I always struggle with finding activities to keep my 3 yr old occupied while we are taking long car trips. I recently found a new company, MagnaPlay, that actually has 2 products designed for traveling.
What is it?
MagnaPlay was founded by a Mom who understands the importance of safety and quality when manufacturing educational toys for children. MagnaPlay strives to educate children and facilitate their creativity with its innovative educational activities. From learning the alphabets and numbers to coloring, word games and puzzles, MagnaPlay offers fun activities for children of all ages.
MagnaPlay has built their product line around a wonderful invention called the MagnaKase. The Magnacase serves both as an activity board and a storage case for children’s coloring activities. They can use the top of the case as a dry erase board as it has a dry erase magnetic surface. What I like best about it is that it comes with 2 magnetic strips that secure coloring pages to the activity surface for coloring with crayons, color pencils, or markers. During travel, children can use the MagnaKase as an activity lapboard while in a car seat, in a flight, in a restaurant or even during a picnic as it is just the right size. The hinged case has built-in snap-lock latches and handle which makes it convenient for children to carry the case along with them with their favorite coloring pages, crayons, color pencils and markers. It is important to note that you should only use sponges, tissues, or a dry cloth to erase marking. Do not use water as it will leave permanent color stains.

The product which I reviewed was the The MagnaPlay Magnetic Coloring Travel Set. This set includes the MagnaKase, 4 double-sided Reusable Color and Erase worksheets, 6 dry erase WASHABLE markers, and a sponge. Right away my 3 yr old was excited to play with markers, and I was excited they were washable. He quickly began coloring all over the worksheets and his mouth dropped opened when mommy erased the color away and he could do it all over again. It was a little difficult for him to erase the markings away but with a little help he was able to accomplish the task. His favorite part is the dry erase board on top of the MagnaKase. He can draw whatever his little imagination dreams up and clean-up is a breeze! MagnaPlay also offers downloads of free coloring pages if your child gets tired of the pages they are coloring!

Alphabet Picture Puzzle

Magnetic Wooden Alphabet Picture Puzzle

Item # MP-04-01

This Wooden Magnetic Alphabet Picture puzzle contains 52 self-checking sturdy wooden tiles (26 alphabets) with full magnetic backing. The self-checking feature allows children to play and learn on their own. This activity set is designed to be used with the MagnaKase (Item # MP-01-01) which can serve both as a magnetic activity board and storage case. Children can play with their favorite Alphabet Picture puzzle on the go while in a car seat or in a flight. The Puzzles come in a zippered Vinyl bag for storage of the pieces after play and for easy transportation with the MagnaKase during travel.

This Alphabet Picture puzzle is an excellent interactive and educational learning activity. It helps children develop multi-disciplinary skills such as alphabet identification, sorting, word building and spelling. This activity also helps children work on their fine-motor skills at the same time.

Children will also learn to identify the shapes of the objects in the puzzle. A is for Apple and when children match the right pieces of the puzzle, it will look like an Apple. Children can practice calling out the familiar picture on each puzzle piece as they complete it. This activity will also help children differentiate a Consonant from a Vowel. If the alphabet is written in white it is a consonant and if it is written in yellow, it is a vowel. The colorful pictures on the tiles will capture the attention of small children and make learning a fun experience. This activity can also be organized as a game between 2 children when at home. Shuffle the tiles and place them face up and let the children pick up one tile at a time.

Recommended for ages 3 and up. MagnaKase not included. The wooden magnetic activities are made from recycled wood, manufactured in India and packaged in the United States. 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed.

Certified to comply with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSAI) of 2008.

Now how to keep the sales going?

Well I have finally reached my first milestone of having 10 sales in my etsy store. Now my next question is how do I keep it going? Do I just keep adding fabric that I am done with or do I start taking a look at products?

I have various sections within my store for items. There are two of them that have nothing ever added. That is New Baby Gifts and Toys. So that leaves me with which one do I choose take focus on for now? I could actually make one work together with the other if I do it right. How about making some nice toys that would work as a New Baby Gift or even a Big Brother/Sister gift?

I am always looking online for new ideas for items to put in my store. Maybe I need to take a step back and figure out what really would make sense for me to do and do I have the time to do it?

Thoughts

Well good morning.

I have been feeling very overwhelmed with things lately. Especially the amount of fabric I have and the small amount of completed projects. I feel very discouraged and wanted to do some spring cleaning as well. So I have started to clean out the fabric closet.

I have made piles of fabric:
1. Sell it
2. Want to do a project with
3. unsure-if not used or prepped in 30 days it gets sold.

So my clean up and out is your gain. Come check out the store for great deals.

Time to get started

"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing."
Walt Disney

When I found this quote I knew I had to share it. I often am very proud of my accomplishments and will talk about them. Well the time for talking is done.

It has become known that the CPSIA Law has been put on hold for 12 months. Which for me is great. It allows me to re-open my Etsy shop and finally get all of the items I had planned to create on those virtual shelves.

But here we are in this recession. People aren't spending alot of extra money since they basically don't have it. So why spend alot of money on toys that will be forgotten or broken in a matter of time? I remember growing up with toys and games that would last the test of childhood and time. So I am re-vamping my thoughts as to what I am putting in my shop.

Why not teach your children how to play hop-scotch? I will teach them shapes, numbers, social play, turn taking and give them exercises all in one. Plus once you have either drawn the board or attached it to your carpet (*check out my store for details on this idea)* you can step back and watch your children being children.

So no more talking, more action is on the way. Have a great day.
